Responsibilities:

 

The Tax Specialist – Group shall assist the Associate Director – Group Tax and other members of the Tax function in the following:

 

  • Tax Accounting
    • Ensure accurate calculations of current and deferred tax positions in the consolidated financial statements on an interim and year-end basis taking into consideration local legislation and tax accounting principles.
    • Prepare the tax provision files, financial reports, and disclosures of the tax financial results in accordance with IAS 12, IAS 34 and other IFRS regulations.
    • Work with the Associate Director – Tax and wider Tax function on the interim and year-end tax audit and the preparation of the related requirements.
    • Analyze and update the Uncertain Tax Provisions (“UTP”) held locally and centrally under IFRIC 23.
    • Work closely with external auditors responsible for the audit of the current and deferred tax financial results.
  • Prepare the analysis comparing the income tax provision with the final tax returns.

 

  • Local Tax Compliance & Reporting
    • Review the corporate tax returns of various entities in the Group before finalization within the tax function and with external advisors.
    • Work closely with the local finance teams to fully understand the local financial statements needed to prepare the corporate and VAT returns.
    • Put in place the checklist of all compliance matters
    • Research tax rules to ensure correct implementation of laws for compliance purposes.
    • Maintain contact with external tax advisors on ad-hoc matters.

 

  • Global Minimum Tax
    • Support with the implementation and compliance of international rules on Global Minimum Tax.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the UK and international Global Minimum Tax rules and provide timely updates of any UK tax and financial legislative changes to the wider Group team.

 

  • Supervision and managerial responsibilities
    • The Tax Assistant Manager will be responsible to supervise and train certain members of the Group Tax Function on technical tax accounting matters
    • Manage certain projects on complex technical matters and improvements
    • The Tax Assistant Manager must be diligent in identifying areas of improvements in processes, systems, reports, etc.

 

 

 

  • Ad-hoc matters
    • Given the evolving nature of the tax requirements as well as internal updates, there will be other ad-hoc items that the Tax Specialist needs to work on. This could require extensive early knowledge building with the aim of the Tax Specialist to take ownership of these items eventually.
    • There will also be cases where the Tax Specialist will be required to support in other matters within the Tax Function that would enhance the technical tax knowledge and build a solid basis for building a career as a Tax Advisor.

 

 

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance
  • Masters / Professional certificates is a plus

 

Experience:

  • 5-6 years of experience in a related field is preferred
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of Tax regulations
  • Strong background of technical accounting matters and specifically technical tax accounting standards
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and the other Microsoft Office Suite are a must
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in English
  • Detail oriented and adept to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
