Description:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Specialist II, EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) compliance with regulatory requirements by effectively interpreting and deploying EHS management system protocols and identifying risks. Facilitates employee learning and awareness to ensure compliance at every level throughout the organization while sustaining an injury prevention culture. Participates during interactions with regulatory authorities and customers. Coordinates the completion of assigned site EHS compliance objectives, while using engineering/scientific concepts, procedures, standards, and industry awareness to identify and resolve EHS issues for Hikma Pharmaceuticals Bedford, Ohio Operations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply scientific, engineering principles and behavioural based systems to drive EHS risk reduction efforts and compliance activities.
  • Complete internal and external EHS compliance reports and analyse EHS data and report trends.
  • Recommend plans for correction of gaps and provide EHS input to address changes in operations.
  • Create and implement Safety Programs for compliance that are concise and easy to comprehend.
  • Develop and facilitate safety training to fulfil a regulatory requirement and to ensure awareness is understood by adult learners.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures associated with environmental, health and safety of pharmaceutical operations.
  • Acts as a liaison while possessing a high degree of competence to manage multiple agencies (i.e., OSHA, EPA, DOT, NJDEP, etc.) within the EHS span of responsibility. This includes interaction with both internal and external customers.
  • Experience and the ability to effectively execute data collection, analyse laboratory results and complete technical reports is crucial. In addition, confident interaction with those involved in these exposure assessments is necessary and can be challenging at times.
  • Experience and the ability to effectively manage the facility wastewater, hazardous waste, air emissions and spill prevention programs.
  • Write and implement Standard Operating Procedures and/or Standard Department Procedures for safety, environmental and risk management programs as assigned.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs as assigned that focus on management systems, policies, procedures, and work instructions and meet state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and monitor the site waste management program budget.
  • Work with operations management at all levels to ensure the effective implementation of EHS programs.
  • Identify and recommend feasible process improvements and engineering controls to minimize EHS risks.
  • Perform EHS reviews of changes in existing operations and design of new operations.
  • Effective communication and problem solving skills.
  • Business writing (Ex: Reports, Position Papers, Proposals, etc.)
  • Risk Analysis – can perform and understand the risk assessment process and risk mitigation strategies
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated successful communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting and/or multiple demands, including ability to present to various level within an organization.
  • Excellent knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and NJDEP regulations.

  • Minimum:
    • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering, Environmental, Health, Safety)
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years' experience in an Environmental, Health, & Safety role
    • Excellent knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DOT and NJDEP regulations.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions utilizing investigative techniques.
    • Demonstrated accomplishments in effectively implementing EHS programs in the pharmaceutical or related industry.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Assurance, Production, Laboratories, Regulatory Compliance and Regulatory Affairs functions within a pharmaceutical production environment required.
    • Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to influence/ persuade individuals to gain acceptance of an idea or plan. Ability to utilize active listening skills to understand the concerns or reasoning in order to be responsive, gain trust, and build strategic relationships.
    • Collaboration and Teamwork - Communicates a clear vision of team goals and objectives. Creates an environment in which team members share both risks and rewards. Focuses the team's efforts on both the process and desired outcome. Acknowledges diverse views among team members and works towards consensus based solutions. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or professional certification (PE, CSP, CIH)

 

Compensation:

Base Salary: $62,700 to $130,300 annually. The compensation for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, work location, prior experience and job-related knowledge, relevant skills and expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
