We are seeking a talented and motivated Associate Manager, Claims to join our team. In this role, the individual will play a key role in overseeing trade accounts receivable and customer claims activities within a pharmaceutical environment.
This position is responsible for ensuring accurate receivables, timely cash application, effective claims resolution, and strong audit and control practices. The role partners closely with cross‑functional teams to reduce revenue leakage and support accurate gross‑to‑net results across a mixed product portfolio. This position is designed as a developmental role with increasing ownership and a clear path to Manager‑level leadership.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable
- Plan, organize, and manage activities related to the accounts receivable sub‑ledger.
- Execute and oversee collections activities to reduce past due balances and improve DSO.
- Manage cash application activities, including review and reconciliation of cash receipts to bank statements.
- Perform customer credit investigations, support credit limit reviews, and manage credit holds.
- Manage receivables activity related to customer deductions and disputed balances.
- Review monthly reconciliations of major customer trial balances to the AR sub‑ledger.
- Serve as a subject matter resource for Order‑to‑Cash processes within Finance.
- Handle escalated customer issues and complex account inquiries.
- Own quarterly audit processes for AR and claims, including documentation, controls, and auditor support.
- Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies and maintain accurate, current procedures.
Claims Management
- Manage customer claims including validation, processing, approval, and credit issuance for shortages, damages, returns, quality issues, promotions, price protection, and failure‑to‑supply claims.
- Manage claims requiring serialization data in compliance with DSCSA requirements.
- Drive timely claim resolution and actively manage claim aging.
- Reduce revenue leakage through recovery of denied or partially denied claims.
- Prepare, analyze, and report claims metrics and trends.
- Identify opportunities to improve claims workflows through automation or process enhancements.
- Support contract discussions related to claims language to ensure alignment with internal policies.
- Deliver high‑quality service to direct customers, indirect customers, and internal commercial partners.
Gross‑to‑Net Support
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of pharmaceutical gross‑to‑net components, including trade deductions, returns, chargebacks, rebates, price protection, and promotional credits.
- Ensure AR and claims activity supports accurate net sales and revenue reporting.
- Partner with Trade Operations, Warehouse, Revenue Operations, and Commercial teams to investigate variances, deductions, and claims activity impacting gross‑to‑net performance.
- Identify recurring trends or root causes that may indicate upstream pricing, contract, or operational issues across a mixed product portfolio.
Leadership Readiness
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead through collaboration.
- Serves as a trusted point of escalation and partner across teams.
- Provides informal guidance and knowledge sharing to peers as needed.
- Expected to develop people‑management capabilities over time as part of a defined path to Manager‑level roles.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- Associate’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
- 3-5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Claims, or Accounting, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Hands‑on experience managing AR, customer deductions, and claims lifecycle processes.
- Clear understanding of pharmaceutical gross‑to‑net concepts and financial impact.
- Experience owning AR and claims audit activities and operating within controlled finance environments.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- SAP ERP experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and follow‑through skills.
- Ability to manage escalations, influence cross‑functional partners, and operate with increasing autonomy.
Compensation:
Base Salary: $66,600.00 - $133,750.00 annually. The compensation for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, work location, prior experience and job-related knowledge, relevant skills and expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
