The Junior Preventive Maintenance Mechanic is an entry-level maintenance position designed for individuals looking to begin or advance their career in pharmaceutical manufacturing maintenance. This role provides hands-on experience performing scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities on production equipment while working alongside experienced maintenance professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assigned PMs safely, accurately, and on schedule to support equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the shift supervisor at the start of each shift and receive assigned preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on production and support equipment.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks on equipment that is out of service to ensure rapid turnaround and support production startup schedules.
  • Complete all assigned PMs accurately and within established deadlines.
  • Maintain a zero-overdue PM status by effectively managing assigned workload.
  • Follow all company safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and pharmaceutical industry standards.
  • Accurately document completed maintenance activities in maintenance management systems and work orders.
  • Utilize basic hand tools and testing equipment, including volt meters, to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and maintenance personnel to support operational goals.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance work areas.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, automotive, military, facilities, or related environment or graduation from an accredited technical, vocational, or trade school in a maintenance-related field.
  • Basic understanding of preventive maintenance principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and use a volt meter safely and effectively.
  • Understanding of the differences between standard and metric measurement systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain gown qualification required for work in controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision after training.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleanroom gowning.
    • Ability to lift and carry maintenance tools and equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical equipment.

 

Compensation:

Hourly Rate: $26.00 per hour. The compensation for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, work location, prior experience and job-related knowledge, relevant skills and expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
