Title: Procurement Agent - Direct Materials
JOB PURPOSE
The Procurement Agent - Direct Materials will play a vital role in managing the sourcing and acquisition of raw materials and other essential components for pharmaceutical manufacturing. With a primary focus on Cost Control, Risk Management, Quality of Work, Process Improvements, Relationship Management, and Strategic Decision-Making, this role will support operational efficiency, compliance, and the long-term goals of the Procurement department and the plant.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Make buying decisions from various approved suppliers via MRP system to support Manufacturing.
- Analyze and manage appropriate reports such as supplier performance reports, MRP exception reports and open P.O. reports to ensure on-time material availability and proper inventory levels.
- Investigate and review all material quality complaints and problems, both internal and external, and forward correspondence to appropriate personnel.
- Analyze excess and obsolete material and initiate disposition via various channels, both internal and external.
- Monitors spend and inventory levels against budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
- Assess supplier reliability and performance to mitigate supply chain risks and maintain uninterrupted production while developing contingency plans to manage supply disruptions effectively.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, and Finance, to ensure alignment on procurement needs and goals.
- Act as the primary liaison for suppliers, facilitating clear communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Contribute to the development of sourcing strategies that align with the company’s long-term operational and financial objectives.
- Analyze market trends, industry developments, and supplier dynamics to inform strategic sourcing decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management/Procurement.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum: 3-5 years of procurement experience with demonstrated experience with direct materials sourcing/ procurement.
- Preferred: Experience in cGMP environment with knowledge in SAP or similar ERP system.
SKILLS
- Proficient with SAP and MS Office.
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with a strong commitment to compliance and quality.
