Title:  Sr. Electrician

Description: 

JOB PURPOSE

Under general supervision, lead and perform tasks in repair, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and circuits.

KEY ACCOUTABILITIES

  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance and punctuality.
  • Pull wires, conduit, cables, etc.
  • Connects power cables to equipment i.e., motors, generators, alarm systems, lighting systems, etc. 
  • Install wire, conduit, cable, conductors, etc.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment.
  • Maintains all lighting within the facility and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots all electrical services throughout the plant (24VAC up to and including 480VAC).
  • Assist engineering with design modifications to plant electrical distribution systems.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management personnel.
  • Works overtimeand weeknds as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum:   High school diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years technical training
  • Preferred:   Minimum of State of New Jersey electrician License preferred

EXPERIENCE

 

  • Minimum:    Five (5) years’ experience as an industrial electrician; must be familiar with current National Electrical Code (NEC)

SKILLS

 

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Requires individual to work closely with Engineering on plant layout and power consumption, offering suggestions to improve cost effective measures.  Must be adept at reacting to plant power outages.    Ability to work safely.
  • Moderate physical exertion lifting 10-20 lbs. 20% of the total time and 50 lbs. approximately 10% of total time. 
  • Must climb ladders and perform mechanical and electrical tasks in excess of 10 ft.
  • Environmental conditions can range from highly agreeable to disagreeable.  Period of disagreeable work does not exceed 20% of the time.  Examples of disagreeable conditions are working in the sterile area which requires full gowning, working in areas with high and low ambient temperatures, performing maintenance/repairs in the chemistry/microbiology laboratories, working in awkward locations for equipment repairs, etc.  Work duties are performed in production areas, office areas and laboratories.  Employee required to work with 24v/110v/208v/277v/460v electrical services.
  • Ability to use electrician hand tools i.e. snips, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, etc. 
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to measure, cut, bend and instoll conduit.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic testing equipment, i.e. multimeters, megohmmeters, continuity meters, etc.
