Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between pharmaceutical company and healthcare professionals. The Medical Science Liaison plays a crucial role in communicating complex scientific information to healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders in a clear and effective manner.

The ideal candidate will have a robust scientific background, preferably in the medical or pharmaceutical field, with excellent presentation and communication skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinical investigators, and healthcare professionals
  • Conduct face-to-face visits with HCPs, and KOLs to:
  • Provide scientific exchange and answer complex questions about our products.
  • Support peer-to-peer discussions to foster product and disease awareness.
  • Gather real-world insights and feedback to inform internal commercial strategy.
  • Joint visits or meetings with external stakeholders (e.g., managed care, formulary decision-makers such as P&T committee members, conversion pilots).
  • Educate Healthcare Professionals: Provide scientific and clinical information about the company's products, treatments, and research in specific therapeutic areas
  • Host the medical information booth and respond to unsolicited, on-the-spot medical inquiries.
  • Network with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), researchers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) to build relationships and gain insights.
  • Participate in advisory boards, or other meetings held in conjunction with conferences.
  • Identify Speakers: Recommend potential speakers and thought leaders for company-sponsored programs
  • Deliver live, interactive medical training sessions for sales reps and field teams to:
    • Deepen their understanding of our products, disease state, and competitor landscape.
    • Provide real-time Q&A sessions and practical case discussions.
    • Offer ride-along support to ensure accurate, compliant dissemination of medical content.
  • Collaborate in-person with cross-functional teams (regulatory, legal, market access, commercial) for:
  • Launch planning, data dissemination, and scientific communication development.
  • Work with internal teams to develop medical education programs and clinical/postmarketing studies
  • Stay updated and provide feedback:  Keep abreast of the latest clinical data related to the company's products and competitors' products.
  • Offer insights and trends observed in the healthcare sector to the company's medical, R&D and commercial teams.
  • Organize and attend local US advisory board meetings, providing:
    • Scientific moderation or content delivery.
    • Immediate support for discussions around clinical practice patterns and unmet needs.
  • Investigator-initiated studies
  • Selection of research topics of interests
  • Participate in site visits or initiation meetings for investigator-sponsored trials or post-marketing studies.
  • HE/OR studies conduct, publication plans
  • RWE/observationals studies development/support
  • Managing publication plans originating from company or investigator initiated studies, white papers, HEOR studies.
  • Address unsolicited inquiries from healthcare professionals regarding medical products.
  • Review/approve advertising and promotional, as well as scientific and educational, materials within the therapeutic area. Ensure that all promotional material claims are accurate, correct and supported by in house or published literature.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory and legal guidelines
  • Attend local/regional society meetings or educational forums especially ones not accessible remotely.
  • Support product education initiatives tailored to regional variations in practice and policy.
  • Working with medical societies  on continuous education initiatives

 

Qualifications:

  • Scientific Expertise: Strong background in medical or pharmaceutical sciences
  • Education: Advanced degree in medical or pharmaceutical sciences (PharmD, MD, PhD, etc.).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison role preferred.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific and medical information.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel extensively for meetings and events.

 

Compensation:

Base Salary: $92,850 to $158,450.00 annually. The compensation for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, work location, prior experience and job-related knowledge, relevant skills and expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The Talent Acquisition team can provide more details about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
