We are seeking a talented and motivated AVP, North America Engineering to join our team. In this role you will be providing executive leadership for Engineering and Capital Projects across the North America manufacturing network. Responsible for developing and executing engineering and technical operations strategies that support business growth, uninterrupted product supply, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and cost competitiveness across injectable and solid-dose manufacturing operations.
The role leads large-scale capital investments with a multi-million dollar operating and capital responsible for an annual CAPEX exceeding US$ 75M (with significantly higher investment levels during expansion and growth periods), facility and equipment lifecycle management, process optimization initiatives, and engineering organizations while driving innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment, ensuring on-going and continuous collaboration and coordination across the North American engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute North America engineering and technical operations strategies aligned with business objectives, manufacturing priorities, and global initiatives
- Provide both short-term and long-term strategic direction for engineering infrastructure, manufacturing technologies, asset reliability, CAPEX, and facility expansion
- Serve as a key member of a North American Operations Leadership Team and as a strategic advisor to executive leadership
Engineering & Capital Programs
- Lead engineering strategy and execution across all North America manufacturing sites
- Manage large-scale capital investment programs, including facility expansions, equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, and capacity enhancement projects
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements
- Establish long-range capital plans supporting growth, productivity, compliance, and business continuity
- Ensure all engineering, validation, maintenance, and technical operations activities comply with FDA, DEA, OSHA, environmental, applicable laws, and Hikma group requirements, policies, and expectations
Commercialization & Technology Transfer
- Lead engineering and technical support for new product introductions, site transfers, technology transfers, and third-party manufacturing initiatives
- Partner with R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial teams to ensure successful product launches and lifecycle management activities
- Provide technical due diligence support for business development opportunities, acquisitions, partnerships, and external manufacturing relationships
Talent & Organizational Leadership
- Build and develop high-performing engineering and technical organizations
- Mentor and coach leaders across Engineering and associated projects functions
- Drive succession planning, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement initiatives
Collaboration and Communications
- Partner with global engineering, technical operations, procurement, supply chain, and quality organizations to ensure alignment of standards, priorities, and strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with multiple site leaders and global Engineering functions
- Interact with various external contacts such as regulatory agencies, contract manufacturing organizations (CMO’s), engineering service providers, equipment manufacturers, construction contractors, suppliers, strategic partners, industry associations, and consultants
General
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain regular, predictable onsite attendance and punctuality
- Professional Engineering (PE), Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or equivalent certifications preferred.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- 15+ years of progressive leadership within pharmaceutical manufacturing, including the following:
Managing others both internally and externally
- Demonstrated experience supporting both injectable and oral, including solid dose, manufacturing operations
- Establishing strategies and leading Engineering organizations, technical operations.
- Experience leading large-scale capital projects and facility modernization programs.
- Strong understanding of generic pharmaceutical manufacturing environments and cost-competitive operations.
- Experience with combination products
- Preferred experience in:
- IV bag manufacturing.
- Multi-site and global leadership.
- Supporting acquisitions, network optimization, or major capacity expansion initiatives.
- Proven experience and process knowledge in pharmaceutical manufacturing / packaging technology, engineering, maintenance and technical operations.
- Strong knowledge of cGMP requirements, validation principles, human factors, quality systems, regulatory expectations and industrial safety.
- Proven leadership in high-volume manufacturing, driving operational excellence through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, reliability engineering and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding and planning for scaled operations from R&D to commercialization.
- Demonstrated success improving throughput, asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), quality, cost efficiency, and material control.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, regulatory agencies, suppliers, customers, and global teams.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and talent development skills, including guiding senior-level professionals and leading organizational transformation initiatives.
- Results-oriented leader with a strong focus on safety, quality, compliance, delivery, and cost performance.
- Expertise in capital project management, facility engineering, asset lifecycle management, and engineering program execution.
- Strong strategic planning, portfolio management, budgeting, capital planning, and resource allocation capabilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making abilities.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives across cross-functional and global organizations.
- Highly effective communicator with exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and executive communication skills; able to translate complex technical and financial information for diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with the ability to work effectively in domestic and international environments.
- Significant travel expected to support operational needs

Compensation:
Base Salary: $182,000 to $331,250 annually. The compensation for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, work location, prior experience and job-related knowledge, relevant skills and expertise, current business needs, and market factors.
