We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team and encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds.  We are seeking a talented and motivated Category Manager, API Procurement to join our team.  In this role, you will be responsible for  executing Sourcing and Category Strategies in the area of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) in line with the overall Company Sourcing and business strategy to optimize external spend and prepare for future sourcing challenges in close collaboration with Business Partner on equivalent Management level.

Accomplish Strategic Sourcing events within the area of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. Analyze market to support and execute identified opportunities for strategy development.

Lead project team(s) in a matrix to execute innovative processes and strategies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Category Strategy

• Leverage key organizational capabilities to implement and execute Category Strategies consistent with the Company’s overall goals and objectives to ensure external spend optimization and supply-security within the API category.

• Take active part in cross-functional projects to realize savings potential and execute identified business opportunities in line with Global Category Strategy.

Sourcing Strategy - Lead complex Sourcing Projects

• Run analysis to forecast usage patterns and to predict trends by using expertise to enlarge the Company’s position within the external markets. Execute innovative sourcing strategies together with business partner by using knowledge to combine Demand and Market analysis.

• Carry out the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activities, within the API category, to achieve strategic and operational success for the Company.

Demand Management / Business Partnering

• Build effective Customer Relationship Management with internal business partners on equivalent Management level to identify for business opportunity and savings potential to optimize global spend.

• Collaborate cross-functionally to analyze and leverage internal demand to align with external opportunities and mitigate risks within assigned responsibility.

 

Market / Supply Analysis

• Keep abreast of trends related to  the API category and leverage those to identify opportunities. Execute best practices in order to drive innovation within the API category.

• Analyze market to execute identified opportunities for strategy development.

• Execute Risk Management processes to mitigate identified, evaluated and classified sourcing risks in order to ensure continuity of supply.

Supplier Management

• Perform best-in-class supplier management process within the API category, including negotiation of Supply Agreements.

• Target the optimization on business relationship with Supplier contact to gain Market Intelligence and implement agreed performance levels.

• Work together with Business Partners on building mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to continuously improve performance or resolve potential issues at an early stage.

• Track and report agreed KPI’s and effective governance model with external sources on required levels to ensure strategic alignment.

Continuous Improvement Process within Procurement

• Drive internal communication and ensures knowledge sharing across all Procurement colleagues for operational effectiveness and consistency. 

• Actively supports the business model effectively and consistently. Fully supports the efficient working environment and applies continuous improvement process.

Managerial Responsibility

• Works independently within a project or network across the Department. Lead project team(s) in a matrix (e.g. cross functional) to execute innovate processes and Category Strategies.

• Perform ongoing optimization of cross functional category teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of sourcing experience.  Preferred experience in a generic pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in managing global, local and cross functional team(s) with demonstrated knowledge of global/regional/local markets in order to evaluate and develop the most effective sourcing strategy.
  • Sourcing experience in an international company with considerable spend responsibility preferred, negotiation and contracting of business agreements, knowledge of business in assigned categories preferred. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred that includes sourcing experience in some or all of the following areas: API, primary packaging, secondary packaging, excipients and raw materials.
