In this role, you will be responsible to plan, design, provide maintenance, continuous improvement, and alteration support for buildings, equipment and other facility systems including: facilities management, building technology, architecture and utilities including plumbing, lighting, fire protection/alarming, grounds and storm water, elevators, and material handling systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Regular and predictable onsite attendance and punctuality.
  • Directs capital improvement projects up to $500,000 in value - identify, propose and champion creative and constructive solutions articulating the business value created. Monitors and communicates progress on all projects within the assigned portfolio to successfully deliver project scope, timeline, and budget objectives. Assists in the procurement and installation of new equipment by ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure or by developing cost-effective integration plans.
  • Ensures execution of projects is consistent with proven methods, the Capital PM Process, industry best practices, and relevant corporate procedures and guidelines. Maintains systems by assuring maintenance and accuracy of as-built drawings and system documentation. Updates system design descriptions, as-built drawings, and operating manuals as needed. Includes defining requirements, estimating budgets, creating and managing project schedules, construction and contract management, and commissioning/qualification.
  • Develops standards, processes, and systems / tools to drive consistency, efficiency and quality at the optimal Total Cost of Ownership. Advises management on life cycle costs and maintainability of major infrastructure systems. Advises on existing system capacity and performance parameters in support of new facility projects and renovations.
  • Researches new technologies and procedures relative to plant utilities that could be utilized to improve the business of Engineering & Maintenance. Advises management and staff on services provided by the Facilities group. Defines actual and potential facilities problems that have or will have a serious impact. Suggests corrective actions and directs actions within budget.
  • Provides input to master planning for non-production areas and site master planning activities.
  • Partners with Engineering lead in project drawing and design reviews to ensure building code compliance, site specifications and standards are met, and that good engineering practices are followed for capital and upgrade projects.  Provides technical building information to design professionals, conduct quality control inspections and aid in project turnover to the customer.  Coordinates and provides guidance to other engineers, project managers, and suppliers to assure complete and timely project execution. Utilizes the Building Management System (BMS) and Warehouse Monitoring System to track the plant environmental conditions and provide trend reports generated from monitoring systems.
  • Plans and executes maintenance activities including repair, replacement, upgrade to current standards or development of new solution.  Provides technical guidance regarding repair of the facility, architectural systems, and utilities including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire protection/alarming, grounds and storm water, general building maintenance, access control, elevators and material handling systems, and alterations projects.
  • Identifies continuous improvement activities relative to systems and champion solutions aligned with Site and Department Metrics, Business Objectives and Strategy.
  • Ensures compliance with building codes, ADA and life safety requirements throughout the facilities. Assists in the procurement and installation of new equipment by ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure or by developing cost-effective integration plans.
  • Mentor peers and site resources towards the objectives of enhanced technical knowledge/awareness.  Provides training and technical supervision to reliability technicians and other engineers. Prioritizes activities for our outsourced Facilities group and ensure work performed is closely coordinated with site operations. 
  • Responds to client and/or auditor questions about facility operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required. In lieu of formal education, 8 years of business-related experience in architectural or facility systems and related maintenance, preferably in the chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industries.
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in the architectural or facility systems and related maintenance (or equivalent), preferably in the chemical, food, or pharmaceutical industries.
